January was a long month...I can't say that I'm sorry it's over. We went at least two weeks without seeing the sun and it was getting pretty old. On the 1st, Christopher and I got all the Christmas stuff cleaned up and went and hiked Badger Mt. It was frosty and cool and beautiful!
We decided to do a quick get away and go visit Hannah and Brandon and Lilly in Spokane. We picked up Hannah and Lilly, ate lunch at the food court in the mall and went to a few shops and visited Brandon. The kids played for a bit while we visited with Hannah and then it was time to go home. It was fun to see them. Lilly is talking so well and it's always fun to spend time with her.
We took Ansel and Jonas to get their passports as we are planning on taking them to Russia this summer to visit Grandma and Grandpa Childers!
Owen had his pinewood derby on January 21st. He was convinced he was going to win because he won last year. He had a sweet pirate car, but he didn't win. He was pretty bummed that his car wasn't coming in first. It was a good, but hard lesson for him to learn. We talked about how it was more important to just do your best but he wasn't having much of that. He eventually got over it and said he had fun, but that next year he is going to work on his car more.
Owen's car is #6
Christopher took the boys with a co-worker and his friend to a BYU game on the 23rd in Portland. It was a game that went into triple over-time and unfortunately BYU lost, but the boys all had a good time. Tara texted me this picture that she saw on TV of Jonas and his friend, Preston. Love it!
Sadie had "gymfest" at the gymnastics center, which is basically a chance for kids to come and do a bunch of skills and get a trophy, if their parents pre-pay. It's fun for her and she was lucky to have Lilly come, too. Hannah and Brandon decided to move their storage unit stuff up to Spokane so came down that day to load it all up. We enjoyed going to lunch with them and visiting for a bit before they had to take off.
On the 30th, I left for Arizona. For Christmas, Christopher arranged for me and Lucy to meet in Arizona for a sister weekend. It could have been warmer, but it was definitely warmer than here, so it was nice. We went to the Gilbert temple open house, shopped, ate, relaxed, watched Natalie and Alyssa compete in their gymnastics meet, visited with Jon and Tara and had a great time!
Found a little dive of a place to eat tacos for lunch one day. They were yummy!
It was a great get away and the best part is January is over and we are into February!
